Our partnership with THERE'S A STORY, a Creative Writing Lab run by Viviana Miliaresi, writing mentor for the Ministry of Stories, Nick Hornby's creative writing and mentoring centre for young people in East London, continues for the sixth consecutive year!
THERE'S A STORY uses writing and illustration to kindle young people's imagination, build confidence, cultivate mutual respect, and enhance communication. “Through storytelling and story writing, we learn about ourselves, and other people, and grow into mature individuals with developed empathy and problem-solving skills”.
Feel free to ask at the School Office to browse through a copy of our published work, such as 'KIDNAPPED IN PARIS' and its dystopian sequel 'THE LAST COCOA BEAN' as well as our Years 3&4 short story collection ’PICKY EATERS’, featuring the children's work!
Annual cost for Creative Writing Club: €675. Price includes all materials and an officially produced book of the children’s work.
Admissions accepted during the first three weeks only.
Become a THERE'S A STORY Writing Mentor! (also see 'Lunchtime Activities' section)
This is a unique opportunity to volunteer with THERE'S A STORY and inspire the next generation of Byron writers! By taking part, your contribution will count towards your Byron Certificates, be recorded in your DofE Online Record Books under ‘Voluntary Service’, and - most excitingly - be added to your Unifrog profiles as work experience, strengthening your future university applications.
As a Writing Mentor for our Creative Writing after-school clubs, you will directly help children to develop their imaginations, skills, and self-confidence. This is not just volunteering; it’s a chance to make a lasting difference while gaining valuable experience yourself. Training will take place with Ms Viviana weekly over lunch to support you in developing your skills and confidence in the role.
To apply, please complete this form. Short interviews will follow.
