Checkout & Circulation
Five items per M.S. student is the standard checkout limit. The limit may be modified by library staff based on the situation (ongoing projects, required readings for class, long overdue items or fines, etc...).
Checkout length varies depending on the item:
2 weeks for regular books (fiction, nonfiction, graphic novel, etc...)
2 weeks for eBooks
1 week for audio-visual materials like Playaways
1 week for magazines
1 day for equipment
Renewing Materials
Students may renew most items except eBooks (they may check out the eBook again)
Students may renew items online using their library account. Otherwise renew items by bringing them to the library.
Renewal is not possible if the item is reserved for another student. (Check with library staff if items you're using for a class can't be renewed because of a reservation.)
Overdues & Lost or Missing Materials
Students may lose checkout privileges or other consequences for long overdue (over 1 month) items.
Students receive frequent overdue reminders, including weekly emails, before any further consequences occur.
Fines are charged for lost or damaged items. Damaged items that are repaired may include a fine for part of the item's value.
Unpaid fines may affect eligibility for activities and field trips.
Families and students may choose to volunteer their time in the library to remove a fine from their account.
If a lost item is returned, the fine will be credited or refunded to the family.
