Mr Collins
(Head of Creative & Expressive Arts)
My name is Mr Collins and I have been working at Bullers Wood School for Boys since its inception. Previous to this I was at a School in Lewisham for 13 years.
I am the Head of Expressive Arts and Sport. It's a brand-new faculty that has been set up at the School which means I line lead the teachers of Art, Drama, DT, Music and PE. It's a fantastic opportunity to see the creative side of the boys develop and I am looking forward to going on the journey with them.
Obviously, sport is my passion and I love watching and playing as many sports as I can. I also enjoy reading sporting autobiographies and finding out about what goes through a talented sports person's mind when they play high level sport. In my spare time I keep fit through road cycling and playing the occasional game of football. I have supported Chelsea all my life and I go to as many matches as I can.
In lessons I have five things I expect from all students. I want the boys to listen, follow instructions, learn from success and failure, try their best and enjoy! Sport is about exercising both the mind and body to create a healthy lifestyle.
At Bullers Wood School for Boys we play lots of fixtures against other schools in Kent and Bromley over a number of sports. Seeing the students take part in these is one of the most rewarding parts of the job regardless of result. Being in our new building and in our new sports hall has meant we have been able to introduce the students to many new sports! It has also been great to have our first cohort of GCSE PE students as the theory aspect is one of my favourite things to teach. I currently teach A'Level PE at the Bullers Wood for Girls 6th Form.
I look forward to meeting you all in the future.
Mr Thornton
Head of Y11
My name is Mr Thornton and I'm the Head of Year 10 at Bullers Wood School for Boys.
Having worked at the school since it opened back in 2018 it has been amazing to see the school develop and I'm very excited about seeing us turn into a fully established secondary school. My specialist subject is PE and I am a huge sports fan, playing football for a Saturday and Sunday team takes up most of my time at the weekends. One of the best parts about my job is running sports fixtures against rival schools and seeing the enjoyment the students get from that - especially when everyone is working well as a team and supporting each other. I have also recently become more interested in golf, so usually spend the school holidays out on the local courses. I have a two year old French Mastiff named Sonny, he is a very big dog who weighs 55KG and needs lots of exercise! I also enjoy spending time playing with him and exploring new areas to take him on walks.
Mr Woodgate
Head of Year 9
My name is Mr Woodgate and I am the Head of Year 8 at Bullers Wood School for Boys.
I am a new member of staff at Bullers Wood School for Boys, having joined in September 2020 like all the new Year 7 students. I have followed the progress of this school since it opened and was delighted to be given the opportunity to join Bullers Wood at such an exciting time! My experience of the school so far has been fantastic and I am very excited for what the future holds! I have been teaching for seven years, and have been a Head of Year for the last three years at my previous school. I love my job, and especially enjoy being a Head of Year.
My specialist subjects are PE and Maths, two subjects I really enjoy! My favourite part of the job is getting to know all of the students, and seeing them grow and develop as young people. I want all students to feel supported in every aspect of school life, and be inspired to achieve great things! I want the boys to feel proud that they are part of the Bullers Wood family!
In my spare time I like to exercise frequently. I play football for a team every Saturday, and also enjoy running regularly. I also love to play other sports, especially tennis and badminton. And of course find the time to follow the mighty Arsenal! A new hobby I have taken up recently is learning to play the piano. This instrument has always fascinated me and I have always wanted to learn. During lockdown I decided to buy a piano and, although I am still very much a beginner, I am making progress!
Mr Williams
(Assistant Headteacher)
Mr Palmer
My name is Mr Williams and I am an Assistant Head Teacher in charge of Teaching and Learning. I have recently joined the School (Sept 2021) having previously worked at another Bromley school for 13 years. I am lucky enough to teach PE, Business Studies and Science. I enjoy watching all sport especially football (I support Arsenal), rugby, golf and cricket. I played football for Brighton and Hove Albion FC before focusing on education and now enjoy running and spinning to keep fit. I have a young family who are very active and like to keep me busy! I am extremely passionate about my job and I am privileged to be able to support young people on their journey through the early part of their lives.
