PE Year 7

Students will study one sport per half term and participate in varied sports throughout their school career. Each year students will partake in different sports for variety. Lessons for each sport will be a mixture of skill based learning and learning through conditioned game play.

Current sports taught in Key Stage 3 PE lessons are:


  • Athletics (including Cross Country)

  • Badminton

  • Basketball

  • Cricket

  • Fitness

  • Football

  • Handball

  • Rugby Union

  • Table Tennis

  • Tennis

  • Softball

  • Volleyball


Within these sports students will be taught and encouraged to;


  • Use a range of tactics and strategies to overcome opponents in direct competition through team and individual games

  • Develop their technique and improve performance in competitive sports/activities

  • Perform in front of others and have confidence providing evaluative feedback

  • Work together as a team, overcome challenges and develop skills to solve problems. To show respect for each other and the equipment

  • Evaluate and analyse their performances, compare their performances to past ones and work to demonstrate improvements in order to achieve their personal best

  • Take part in competitive sports and activities in and outside of school
