Meet the Maths Team

Mrs Oberai

My name is Mrs Oberai and I am the Head of Mathematics at Bullers Wood School for Boys (the favourite subject for most of you I'm sure). I have been here for 2 years and they have been some of the of the most enjoyable of my teaching life!

To tell you a bit about myself… I am sure, when you see me, you all will find this very hard to believe but I'm a mum of two… a son who is married and a daughter who is currently at university. In my spare time I love to cook and unlike what Mrs Basilico (who is from Italy) will have you believe… I believe Indian food (especially mine) is the best in the world!

Mrs Krige

I am Mrs. Krige (you pronounce it cree - ge) and I am Second in Charge of Mathematics.  I have been teaching since 2005 and before that I spent two years in the South African Air Force.  Brought up in a military family was a lot of fun.

Throughout my teaching career I have had a fair share of fun.  As self proclaimed "Queen of the Nerds", I have an unhealthy obsession with Star Wars, Rubik's Cubes, Stranger Things and 90's music.  In 2011 I broke a Guinness World Record for organizing 711 people all solving Rubik's cubes simultaneously in under an hour.   I absolutely love learning new things and always willing to share what I learn.

My journey in becoming a math's teacher was a long one.  In school I did not enjoy math's and was not at all good at it.  My father said that I may become a teacher and that he would pay all my fees (thanks dad) but that I had to study math's as well.  My lectures at University were phenomenal and somehow made all the math's "click".  Since then I have been hooked and could not imagine teaching anything else.  I always share this story with my students - I know how it feels to not understand and feel overwhelmed in math's, but it does not have to stay that way.

Mrs Jafarpouran

My name is Mrs Jafarpouran and I am a mathematics teacher at the Bullers Wood School for Boys. I’m originally from Poland, where I finished university with a master's degree in business and finance. I have lived in England since 2004. Before I became a teacher, I’ve spent a couple of years working as a learning support assistant at another secondary school.

I love being surrounded by children and influencing them on their way to become adults. I hope to teach them an understanding of mathematics that they will be able to use for the rest of their lives.

Outside of school I like to embroider and sew, sometimes you can see my creations displayed in the classroom. Reading is another of my hobbies. I love to go to bookstores where I can sit down reading a book while my son explores the shelves in search of his next read.

Mr Kouma

I am Mr Kouma, Teacher of Mathematics at Bullers Wood School for Boys. I taught Mathematics and Further Mathematics for 12 years in London and Kent secondary schools. I was previously a Key Stage 5 Coordinator (A-Level Maths) and later on Acting Head of Mathematics in previous schools like The John Roan (Greenwich), Skinners Kent Academy (Tunbridge Wells) and Haberdashers’ Askes’ Knights Academy (Downham, Kent).

I spent my University years studying Mathematics at the Sorbonne Université in Paris, France. I am truly a Maths enthusiast; always willing to try and instil my passion for Maths in all my students. I aim to help my students become independent learners and fantastic mathematicians.

Outside of teaching, I enjoy computer programming and sport, especially running, Taekwondo and football. During the lockdown, I actually spent most of the time teaching myself to program in Python. I would like to encourage my students to become independent learners and believe that they can learn and excel in any subject, topic or discipline if they are determined and confident.

Miss Boughton

I’m Miss Boughton and I joined Bullers Wood School for Boys in September 2021. I teach Maths which is a fantastic subject and I love exploring this with students. I am also an Assistant Headteacher at the school with responsibility for lots of exciting things such as Careers, Extra-curricular opportunities, personal development and wellbeing.

I went to university in Sheffield and then moved to London, working at an all girls school in Stratford for eight years. Outside of work I love travelling both abroad and within the UK, going to the cinema and long country walks. I am also good in the kitchen and enjoy cooking and baking for family and friends.
