Under the parent organisation SCDF, National Civil Defence Cadet Corps (NCDCC) aims to be a choice Gold UG (uniformed group) that equips our youths with life-savings skills via participation in interesting and challenging Civil Defence activities.

NCDCC is a National Uniformed Group under the purview of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Home Affairs, Singapore Civil Defence Force.

NCDCC began its journey in 2005, with the focus to develop greater awareness of civil defence in our cadets and prepare them with the skills to respond effectively to emergencies at home and abroad. The attitude of readiness against adversity and practical skills (CPR & AED) which are critical in the face of danger and emergencies, are life-long capabilities that will prove beneficial to our young civil defence ambassadors. Through close partnership with the SCDF, students will have opportunities to visit Civil Defence Academy, Home Team Academy and fire stations.

Curriculum

In Year 1, our cadets are equipped with basic skills such as Fire Safety, Total Defence and Basic Foot Drills. Upon completion, cadets get promoted to Lance Corporal by the end of Year 1.

In Year 2, our cadets learn life-saving skills such as First Aid, Rescue, Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and operating the Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Cadets also learn Advanced Foot Drills, Civil Defence Knowledge and attend the Singapore Anti-Narcotics Association (SANA) course. Upon completion, cadets get promoted to Sergeant by the end of Year 2.

In Year 3, our cadets learn about Hazardous Materials and Homefront Security. They also choose a specialization course organized by HQ; in Fire Safety, Medical Response or Urban Search and Rescue. Upon completion, cadets get promoted to Staff Sergeant by the end of Year 3.

Along the way cadets are groomed to be outstanding leaders of character and are given opportunities and platforms to in turn, train and groom the younger cadets.

The very best cadets graduate as Warrant Officers in Year 4.

GIRL GUIDES [GIRLS]

Girl Guides provides an education in life skills which encourages each girl to be a responsible citizen and to lead a useful life. The activities carried out are part of the 5 Point Programme which includes activities like volunteering in welfare organisations, outdoor cooking and camping. GG members can look forward to attaining skills and knowledge badges like SANA (Singapore Anti-Narcotics Association), Crime Prevention, Civil Defence, Total Defence, Cook’s Badge, Artist, Craft, Thrift, WAGGGS interest Badges and many more.

In the Girl Guides, we are committed to the development of our girls into confident leaders. Guides will be given the opportunity to develop their potential as leaders through various leadership courses organised by Girl Guides Headquarters. Our Girl Guides had also represented the Girl Guides Contingent in the prestigious National Day Parade. Girl Guides believes in giving back to the society. Guides organised our termly visits to Sree Narayana Mission Home and also assisted Girl Guides Headquarters in fundraising through the selling of Girl Guides cookies annually. In November 2017, Girl Guides sent our leaders to the International Camp conducted by the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, exposing our girls to various outdoor activities to hone their leadership skills. The company has achieved various levels for the Puan Noor Aishah Award (PNA) over the years, in recognition for the girls’ commitment and guiding spirit.

NATIONAL POLICE CADET CORPS (NPCC)

Our NPCC cadets are exposed to the unique opportunities to gain exposure and familiarity with Singapore’s crime prevention efforts to build a Safe and Secure Home.

Through a myriad of activities, values such as discipline, loyalty, integrity, resourcefulness, tenacity, and civic consciousness are inculcated to develop them into Caring and Responsible Citizens in the 21st century.

Our training program is customized to ensure that the cadets are developed to be active citizens and community leaders, by working in partnership with Singapore Police Force to fight crime and keep Singapore safe.

BOYS BRIGADE [BOYS]

We seek to nurture boys based on values through a well-balanced programme, effective leadership of NCOs and officers, fostering close relationships amongst members, their parents, the church and the school. The Boys’ Brigade sets itself apart from the other uniformed groups by focusing on Social, Physical, Spiritual & Educational development. This has given our members an all-rounded personality. BB Boys will gain leadership skills as one progresses through the ranks. A typical BB Boy can expect to stand as a Sergeant with glittering badges on a set of crisp blue uniforms, leading a Company of Boys on parade. As a member of the BB, one will learn new skills, go on outdoor expeditions, archery sessions, biking expeditions and adventure, make new friends and develop confidence and challenges to their creative thinking skills. Members may also join our Archery Team which will compete in the National Competitions. The Company was awarded the JM Fraser Award for Excellence (Silver).

NATIONAL CADET CORPS (NCC) [BOYS]

Guided by the Cadet Strong framework form HQ NCC: Strong Body, Resilient Mind and Committed Heart, Bowen NCC Land inspires to instil pride in its members through teamwork, discipline, and physical fitness. The CCA aims to provide cadets with a diverse range of challenging, enriching, and fun activities. The 5 broad objectives of our training are: Character Building, Military Awareness, National Education, Adventurous & "Can Do" Spirit, and Leadership. Weekly activities include foot & arms drills, CrossFit Challenge, orienteering, physical training (running & gym sessions), individual field craft and weapon handling. Other interesting activities that are also organised include route marching, rock climbing, C-130 Hercules flying experience & Navy Frigate visit, unarmed combat program like Muay Thai, abseiling etc.

Cadets at each level will undergo different activities and deserving cadets will also be given the opportunity to participate in International Cadet Exchange Programmes to Brunei, India, and USA. What sets the NCC apart from other CCAs is that physically-fit cadets can also look forward to joining SAF Courses such as the Airborne Course and Scuba Diving Course. Upon the successful completion of these SAF-conducted courses, cadets will earn the prestigious Airborne and Scuba Diving badges which they can wear upon enlistment for National Service. In a nutshell, Bowen NCC aims to develop youth with a fit body, good character and strong values that prepares them for challenges in future.
