School Counseling Standards

Just like teachers, the work of school counselors is driven by standards to meet students' needs for social/ emotional, academic, career and college readiness skills. The American School Counselor Association (ASCA) has created the following standards that elementary counselors meet in their classroom counseling lessons. The work of counselors is also driven by the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) competencies you can learn about on this link . Counseling lessons at Creekside will meet a variety of these standards, and support the other Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) programs that our school implements--such as Second Step, Sources of Strength, RISE, Zones of Regulation, and Mindful Life.
