Q: What are Kindergarten Welcome Days?

A: The first three days of kindergarten, August 13th, 14th, and 15th, are half days! Your child will follow one of the two schedules below:

Option 1: AM (7:50-10:45)

Option 2: PM (11:50-2:45)

Q: Why are the Welcome Days in August only half-days?

A:  Beginning the year with half-days allows us to more thoroughly get to know your children, complete beginning of the year assessments, develop routines and procedures in smaller groups, and ease into a full-day schedule. We use the information we gather from the half days to help us make balanced classes for the school year. You will be notified who your child's teacher is ahead of their first full day on August 18th.

Q: I'm concerned about my work schedule and childcare during Kindergarten Welcome Days.  How can I plan ahead?

​A: We want to give you as much time as possible to plan for the start of the school year and to get your childcare/work schedule in place.  You are able to sign up for your preference of morning or afternoon Kindergarten Welcome days in the Spring.  There is a space to indicate if you absolutely need to have the morning or afternoon session for work/childcare reasons.  That said, we will not be able to accommodate everyone's first choice so we HIGHLY recommend that you have backup plans in place.  

Q: Do I need to enroll my child for Kindergarten?

A: Yes.  Please make sure you enroll your child online: BVSD Online Enrollment Link

Q: I do not have a computer.  Can I enroll my child in person?

A: We have computers at Ryan that you are welcome to use.  Please stop by or contact the office and they will be happy to assist you!

Q: I'm having a hard time enrolling my child online.  Is there someone who can help?

A: Yes, our school registrar can help!  (Teachers don't have access to the enrollment systems, but the office staff would be happy to help!) 

Q: When does school start for Kindergartners?

A: Kindergartners start the school year on August 13th, 2025.  They will attend half days on August 13th, 14th, and 15th, 2025. During these days, students will be placed in rotating groups and have the opportunity to work with the entire kindergarten team.

Q: When does the FULL day Kindergarten Schedule begin?

A: Students will begin (and continue for the rest of the year) the FULL Kindergarten day schedule on Monday, August 18th, 2025. You will be notified through Infinite Campus on August 15th of your child's class placement and teacher for the school year. 

Q: When do grades 1-5 start school?

A: First through fifth graders will begin school on August 13th, 2025.

Q: Are there breaks for holidays?

A: Yes!

Q: Does my child need school supplies?

A:  Instead of having each family purchase supplies individually, we ask for a $45 donation at the beginning of the school year. With those funds, we purchase and supply students with what they need throughout the year, and we find this is the best way to reduce waste as well as save families time and money. Sharing supplies in kindergarten is also a great way to work on social skills! We do ask that your child bring a full-sized backpack, a pair of personal headphones, a change of clothes, and a water bottle. More information is located in the welcome packet/slideshow.

Q: Is there before and after school care at Ryan?

A: While we don't offer before-school care at this time, Ryan has a SAC program for after-school care! Click HERE to learn more!
