Mike was born and raised in Vermont and since leaving for college has explored over 40 countries, and almost every state. His undergraduate degree is from the University of Montana and his Masters is from Colorado State University. After college he spent almost 3 years in the U.S. Peace Corps in Nepal, where he first found his love of teaching. After moving to Colorado he lived in Breckenridge for almost 7 years and then moved to the front-range to begin teaching again. He loves the outdoors as much as teaching and worked as a white-water river guide on rivers in Alaska, California, Montana, and Colorado. His last 3 years were spent in Sweden with his wife and young daughter teaching in the International Baccalaureate program.
During his educational career he has worked in many school and has taught many subjects. His first few years of teaching were in California in Lake Tahoe teaching chemistry and physics. In Colorado he was teaching earth science and biology before moving to Sweden. In Sweden he was teaching physics, biology, and physical science. He is excited to be teaching 6th grade physical science at Centennial this year. His favorite parts of teaching are finding ways to integrate technology in the classroom and creating activities that make learning fun and engaging for the students.
