Author Joanna Ho visits Monarch PK-8
Teaching and Celebrating Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month
Last week, we had the privilege of hosting New York Times best-selling author Joanna Ho, author of Eyes That Kiss in the Corners and many other beloved children's books. Joanna was visiting Colorado in celebration of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month through a partnership between P.L.A.Y. Education Corporation and Boulder Book Store.
The event was held on May 15 in the Monarch PK-8 Library and welcomed our K–3 students and staff for an inspiring presentation focused on storytelling, identity, and representation. Each student received a personal copy of one of Joanna's books: Eyes That Kiss in the Corners, Eyes That Speak to the Stars, or Eyes That Weave the World's Wonders.
A heartfelt thank-you goes to the P.L.A.Y. Education Corporation, Boulder Book Store, and the Monarch PK-8 PTO for making this incredible opportunity possible for our students.
For those interested in learning more, purchasing a book, or supporting the work of the P.L.A.Y. Education Corporation, please see the attached flyer for additional information.
As an added highlight, Jared Polis issued a proclamation in conjunction with Joanna Ho's Colorado visit and presented each hosting site with a signed copy. It was a memorable and meaningful addition to an already wonderful event.
It was truly a special experience for our students, staff, and library community

Visual Coding:
Instead of typing complex code, kids snap together colorful blocks to create sequences, similar to Lego bricks
Creative Freedom:
Users can create projects, animations, and games, sharing them with a worldwide community.
