In these classes, you will learn how to safely prepare various delicious meals and snacks. Along with practical cost-effective options, you will be introduced to gourmet cuisine and baking pastry arts. We will also explore the various career options in the hospitality industry.  

Baking & PAstry

Baking & Pastry Arts offers a pathway to a successful career in baking and pastry. The program builds a solid foundation of essential principles and skills. Students will learn specific applications and recipes to master various baked goods, pastries, and confections. In addition to traditional baking techniques, the curriculum includes business and marketing concepts essential for running a bakery. Students will focus on cookie and cake decorating, enhancing their artistic skills, and understanding how to promote and sell their creations. This course also covers gluten-free baking and recipe adaptations for allergies and dietary restrictions. This comprehensive approach ensures students are well-prepared for diverse baking challenges in the industry.

About Me: 

Welcome to my web page. I began my career in education in 2002 at Broomfield High School as a student teacher in Family and Consumer Sciences. After teaching for many years at Standley Lake HS, Ralston Valley HS, and the Jeffco Education Center, I returned to Broomfield HS in 2017.  I have a Masters Degree from Boise State University in Educational Technology, a Bachelors degree from Illinois State University in Apparel Merchandising and Design, and a Bachelors degree from Colorado State University in Family and Consumer Sciences Education. Prior to teaching, I had a career in the apparel industry working as a buyers assistant for a clothing company in Chicago and a CAD designer for a golf apparel company in Colorado. I have lived in Colorado since 2000 and love spending time in the mountains. I enjoy kayaking, hiking, snowboarding, going to concerts, and spending time with my family.
