In these classes, you will learn how to safely prepare various delicious meals and snacks. Along with practical cost-effective options, you will be introduced to gourmet cuisine and baking pastry arts. We will also explore the various career options in the hospitality industry.

Ready to take your culinary skills to the next level and explore careers in the hospitality industry? ProStart is a 1 or 2- year college prep course developed by the National Restaurant Education Association for students interested in going into the restaurant or hospitality and resort management fields. This course combines culinary and management skills, along with guest speakers and field trips in the industry. You will have the opportunity to compete in Culinary Arts and Management competitions and apply for scholarships. ProStart helps you gain valuable experience to move beyond entry-level positions in this exciting industry. In addition, you may choose to receive up to 6 college credits from Metro State University, or work outside of school to obtain the ProStart National COA certificate.

Welcome to my web page. I began my career in education in 2002 at Broomfield High School as a student teacher in Family and Consumer Sciences. After teaching for many years at Standley Lake HS, Ralston Valley HS, and the Jeffco Education Center, I returned to Broomfield HS in 2017. I have a Masters Degree from Boise State University in Educational Technology, a Bachelors degree from Illinois State University in Apparel Merchandising and Design, and a Bachelors degree from Colorado State University in Family and Consumer Sciences Education. Prior to teaching, I had a career in the apparel industry working as a buyers assistant for a clothing company in Chicago and a CAD designer for a golf apparel company in Colorado. I have lived in Colorado since 2000 and love spending time in the mountains. I enjoy kayaking, hiking, snowboarding, going to concerts, and spending time with my family.
