ELEMENTARY STAFFING ANNOUNCEMENT FOR 2021-2022
As summer approaches, we are reminded of God’s faithfulness and provision throughout this challenging season. Since the 2017-2018 school year, Colleen Ippolito has served as the Elementary Principal at Big Valley Christian School. As we look ahead to start another school year, we will be bringing on an elementary Assistant Principal to assist her in the oversight of the elementary school programs.
We are pleased to announce that at the start of the 2021-2022 school year, Mrs. Kris Giannosa will be our BVCS Elementary Assistant Principal. Kris has been in education for fourteen years at all levels and for eleven of these years, she has been at BVCS as a teacher, Director of Student Life, and Director of Student Services. Kris has a California Teaching Credential and is working on her Administrative Credential. Colleen will be working with Kris as her direct supervisor as she transitions to her new role. Mrs. Mott will continue to provide oversight and leadership to both Mrs. Ippolito and Mrs. Giannosa. Please celebrate God’s faithfulness with us as we look forward to this next season of opportunity to nurture and equip students to impact the world for Jesus Christ at Big Valley Christian School. We are grateful for your partnership.

SHORTENED QUARANTINE TIME: We are being allowed to have staff/students only quarantine for 10 days (shortened from 14) days after the last day a positive case was present at school while infectious.
MASKS FOR YOUNGER CHILDREN: BVCS is not mandating masks for children in preschool - 2nd grade. On October 28, 2020, our lawyer (along with 17 other lawyers from Sidley Austin), obtained an agreement with Gov. Newsom, signed as an Order permitting private, religious schools throughout California to reopen without regard to numerical or grade limitations, and subject to cohorting guidance. The Order states specifically that the cohorting guidance is suggested, but not mandatory. At the time, the cohorting guidance did not recommend mask wearing for all 2+ year olds. That Order is still in effect. It has not been revoked and thus we will not be mandating masks for 2+ year olds. We will continue to follow the requirements that were in place at the end of October: all our staff, campus visitors and 3rd - 12th grade students wear masks while on campus.
BVCS COVID-19 SAFETY PLAN: Our COVID-19 Safety Plan can be found on our Resources page on our bvcs.org website (all schools have been asked to have their plan posted).NEW FREE APP: If you would like to be able to stay connected to FACTS (grades, etc) and other BVCS info, install the New Family app, which is free to BVCS families.
