8th Grade Year End Events

Dear Eighth Grade Family,

We are right around the corner from your child’s promotion ceremony and being able to celebrate all the things God has done over the last nine years. We want to keep you updated on what is coming up as we get closer to promotion. Here’s a general overview and we’ll share the specific details as each event draws closer.

Tuesday, May 18

• Promotion Practice 10:00 in the Worship Center

• Awards Assembly 10:30 in the Worship Center - parents invited

• Promotion Gowns handed out to 8th graders right after the Awards Assembly

• Minimum Day (8th grade only) 8th graders dismissed right after Awards Assembly

• *8th Grade Promotion Banquet - 6:30 Vintage Gardens (BVCS students only - no student guests). Price will be sent out soon!

Wednesday, May 19 - Friday, May 21

• Competition Days during 7th Period

Monday, May 24

• Finals Schedule: 8:30 - 11:45

• Finals: 1st and 2nd periods

• ExCare will be available until 4:00 p.m.

Tuesday, May 25

• Finals Schedule: 8:30 - 11:45

• Finals: 3rd and 4th periods

• ExCare will be available until 4:00 p.m.

Wednesday, May 26

• Finals Schedule: 8:30 - 11:45

• Finals: 5th and 6th periods

• ExCare will be available until 4:00 p.m.

Thursday, May 27

• Last Day of School: 8:30 - 11:45

• Field Day & Food Truck

• ExCare will be available until 4:00 p.m.

• 8th Grade Promotion 7:00 p.m. in the Worship Center. We will not need to restrict the number of people allowed to attend due to the large spaces we will be using. Livestreaming will be available.

Dress code for promotion banquet and promotion ceremony is as follows:

Girls

• Dresses which meet or exceed school dress length (no shorter than 4 inches above the know, including slit)

• No backless or low necklines

• Dress shoes (no tennis shoes)

• Dress pants may be worn under promotion gown

Boys

• Dress pants (no denim)

• Dress shoes (no tennis shoes)

• Dress shirt

• Tie (coat or sweater optional for banquet)

• Tie (required for graduation)

*The 8th grade banquet is Tuesday, May 18 at Vintage Gardens from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. The promotion banquet is not a “dating opportunity.” Parents are also asked to leave after taking pictures. The night is going to be a memorable evening that the staff and our students will enjoy together.
