BVCS Employee Handbook Highlight

Pay periods are on a semi-monthly basis and will end on the 15th and the last day of each month for salaried employees, and the 10th and 25th of the month for hourly employees. Paychecks are issued on the 15th and the last day of the month. When a payday falls on a weekend or holiday, the paycheck will be available on the last working day prior to the weekend. Direct deposit of paychecks to personal bank accounts is available at no charge to the employee and can be arranged with bookkeeping.

• The paycheck stub itemizes all salary deductions. Any questions regarding the computation of these amounts should be directed to the bookkeeper at the school or the accounting manager at the church.

• Salary deductions for Staff include the following:

1. Federal Withholding Tax

2. State Withholding Tax

3. Social Security and Medicare Tax (FICA)

4. Voluntary deductions for medical insurance and contribution to retirement accounts and HSA plan

• The following items are not deducted from salary:

a. California State Disability Insurance is not deducted from checks and is not a benefit of any staff member.

b. Federal and State Unemployment Insurance is not paid by the church/school and is not a benefit of any staff member.

Meetings:

• 1st - 6th Support Staff/TA meetings are scheduled for every Wednesday at 8:35 and will be held in the Staff Room. Please make every effort to be in attendance.

• Faculty Meetings: Tuesday, 1/24, 1/31 3:30 - 4:30 in the upstairs library

Notes and News:

• Substitute Teacher Binders need to be complete. It is important for our substitutes to have everything they need in one location. Please check your binder against the Substitute Teacher Binder document to ensure that you have all the items easily referenced for your substitute.

• Classroom Procedures: As you return from Christmas Break take time to reinforce classroom procedures and expectations.

• Fee Waiver for Commission Examinations and Performance Assessments Now Active! If you need to take any tests for credentialing (CBEST, CSET, RICA, CSPACE) they are free.

• Our annual JOB FAIR is February 4, 2023! Invite anyone you know who is interested in working at BVCS.
