Bilingual Speech Language Pathologist
Owner of Buttercup Speech Therapy
- Certified DIR Floortime Provider -
My name is Kelly.
I received my Masters of Arts degree and became a licensed SLP in 2013. I spent time working with children of all ages in public, private, and charter school systems before transitioning to private practice in 2016. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to work alongside countless other speech therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, behavioral therapists, psychologists, social workers, pediatricians, neurologists, reading specialists, and teachers across the US and Latin America. These experiences have deepened my practice by helping me understand what treatment approaches work best for individuals with complex communication needs.
I understand how hard it can be to get started down this road. I promise to treat you with kindness and compassion every step of our journey together.
Growing can be scary, but it doesn't have to be. I love exploring new ways to teach all minds, especially neurodivergent ones, important communication skills without triggering any feelings of shame or inadequacy. It's the difference between "needing to change" and "wanting to grow" that can shift our motivation and make each learning opportunity a positive experience.
Buttercup Speech Therapy was born out of a desire to provide my clients with the highest quality of care possible. I understand that communication skills are complex and can overlap with many other areas of development, such as:
social-emotional skills
mental health
physical well being
balance, mobility, and coordination
cognitive ability
play skills
literacy competence
attachment style
I have found that seeing the whole child is an essential first step to fully understanding where a child is in his or her communication development. My holistic approach is supported by trainings in the following treatment methods:
DIR Floortime (learn more)
PROMPT Therapy (learn more)
Social Thinking (learn more)
When left unaddressed, delays in multiple areas of development can hinder a child's ability to communicate effectively with others. Working with the whole child is how we develop skills that will last.
Are you feeling stuck with your child's learning? Or are you seeing and supporting the big picture?
