About: If there’s anything the past year in education has made painfully obvious, it is the urgency of social-emotional education for our students. Kids need support and instruction to manage successfully in school (whether that’s in person or online) and in life. Skills like recognizing and managing emotions, being a good friend, controlling impulses, communicating effectively, and working with others are invaluable.
About: High-quality professional development and consultation services for schools to help build capacity to address students’ social, emotional, and behavioral health needs. Each training is composed of easy-to-follow videos on SEL topics and behavioral health in schools such as tools for the classroom, managing crises, connecting families with services, and more.

The content of evidence-based programs helps inform the answers to the important question of how adults can effectively promote student SEL in the classroom and school.
The purpose of this document is to draw on these previous reviews of evidence-based programs to identify and describe some of the most common strategies used to promote student SEL.
About: ACEs are potentially traumatic experiences and events, ranging from abuse and neglect to living with an adult with a mental illness. They can cause stress reactions in children, including feelings of intense fear, terror, and helplessness. When activated repeatedly or over a prolonged period of time (especially in the absence of protective factors), toxic levels of stress hormones can interrupt normal physical and mental development and can even change the brain’s architecture. ACEs have been linked to numerous negative outcomes in adulthood, and research has increasingly identified effects of ACEs in childhood.

About: "We must be guardians of spaces that allow students to breathe, be curious, and to explore the world and be who they are without suffocation. They deserve one place where they can rumble with vulnerability and their hearts can exhale. And what I know from the research is that we should never underestimate the benefit to a child of having a place to belong—even one—where they can take off their armor.
