We will only be asking for volunteers to be sober monitors. For events to happen we need 1 for every 20 of our members that are attending. This is very important that we follow this rule so that we do not get in trouble with the university or panhel. Like I said we are asking for volunteers and will not make anyone be a sober monitor, but if you volunteer you will earn 1 house point every time you are a sober monitor. (Being a sober monitor is different than a sober sister!!)
What is a sober monitor?
In IFC/Panhel rules:
Event Monitors: An Event Monitor is an individual charged with monitoring social events in order to provide a safe social environment. Event Monitors should follow these guidelines:
a. Event Monitors must not be under the influence of alcohol or any illegal substance while serving as an Event Monitor.
b. Event Monitors must be in a common communication system like a group chat or GroupMe that is un-muted while serving as an Event Monitor.
c. Event Monitors must be clearly identifiable while serving as an Event Monitor.
d. Event Monitors should not be new members/ associate members
In other words: you attend the event and are sober. You are encouraged to still dress with the theme, and of course, have fun! This is just to ensure that if we need a "sober" we have people to help!
At events:
You will receive a maroon-colored lanyard with a sober monitor pass attached to it, this is so members can easily identify who is the sober monitor.
For Formal:
We need 20 "Carebears" for formals and they all have different duties serving at the house before the event and at the actual venue. More details to come when formal info comes out!
