Fluency Passages:

Each day for about 5-10 minutes your child will work on reading their fluency passage. (these 6 days are based on the 6 days I teach over the two weeks during regular school time).

Day 1: Model Read - you read to your child and they listen only.

Day 2: Echo Read - This is when you read a line from the text and your child copies you exactly (even the inflection and intonation).

Day 3: Coral Read- you will read the text together.

Day 4: Reverse Echo Read- This is when your child will read a line from the text and you copy them exactly so that they can hear if they are reading like robots or a fluent reader.

Day 5: Independent Read- your child will spend at least 5-10 minutes reading and re-reading the text focusing on accuracy of words (they don't need to sound out every word), expression (make the story come alive), and speed (not too fast or too slow).
