Calculators are important part of modern mathematics but are not a replacement for good logical reasoning.
Please be aware that each manufacturer has their own interpretation of math, the same way iPhones and Androids are different and that the instructor will have a clear preference indicated in their Syllabus.
The following are general guidelines for calculators. Please refer to each course to see which calculator brand and model is most appropriate.
Any two line scientific calculator is recommended for these level of courses. A calculator will be provided for in class work. However, if a calculator is needed at home
Most math teachers are most comfortable with the TI-30XIIS style calculators.
A graphing calculator is recommended for mid-level math courses.
A TI-83 is available to check out from the library, but if college bound it may be worthwhile to invest in a faster/newer graphing calculator.
The TI-89 series calculators can be borrowed from the library.
