Dear Parents, Carers and Students,
Welcome to our Sixth Form open event interactive site & admissions page where you can find all of the information that you need to evaluate the school and decide whether our ethos, approach to learning and the incredible opportunities that we offer to all students are right for you.
Our academic reputation, approach to learning and the broader development of every individual student has led to the school becoming one of the most popular in Buckinghamshire and the neighbouring areas of Slough and Maidenhead. Key to this success is our focus on the learning of every student as an individual.
Our school motto is ‘Embracing Challenge’ and through our Responsible Learning approach we ensure that a broad range of teaching methods inspires students, grabs their curiosity and challenges them to the point of making mistakes in every lesson.
The attitudes they develop in accepting that making mistakes is a key part of learning and understanding the importance of directing their efforts to key areas for improvement, means they have:
· The resilience and confidence to succeed academically and continually try new things
· They take advantage of the exceptional programme of extracurricular activities and trips that we have to offer to help develop their broader skills
Here at Burnham Grammar, whether learning in the classroom, dance or drama or art studio, science lab or on the new 3G all weather pitch, learning is both innovative & engaging and focused on individual progress. The focus on the individual also extends to our pastoral systems where the care and support we provide was described as ‘exceptional’ by Ofsted Inspectors in 2017.
We have an extensive range events which take place throughout the academic year, as well as annual events in the school calendar including our annual Dance Shows & Drama Performances, Made in BGS, plus a range of Sporting & Extra Curricular Events students can participate in throughout the school year.
Students leave Burnham Grammar School equipped with the skills and attitudes to be Caring Individuals and Active Citizens and contribute to, influence and lead their local and wider communities.
Whilst it is deeply disappointing that in the current circumstances that we cannot welcome you to our school building in person, we do hope the videos and information available on our Sixth Form site will give you an insight into the incredible facilities available to our students since our move into our brand new building at the beginning of November 2021.
We have a fantastic performance hall, sports hall, activity studio and dedicated drama studio as well as state of the art classrooms and specialist subject rooms all fitted with large interactive screens. The real disappointment is that you cannot meet our fantastic students who are rightly proud of their school and experience the unique atmosphere of support and individual aspiration that characterizes daily life at Burnham Grammar.
Please take time to look at the various pages here on the virtual open event site, which we hope will help assist you with your decision as to whether Burnham Grammar School is the right school for your Sixth Form studies.
If you cannot find the information that you are looking for please submit a question via the Sixth Form email –sixthform@burnhamgrammar.org.uk or visit our school website for more information.
I wish you the best of luck in navigating your way through the admissions process and I hope to see many of you welcomed into our Sixth Form in September 2022.
