Goal A: Review and improve existing programs and practices
Objective A-1: Standardize and use a common vocabulary between all similar courses of study (domain specific terminology - art, theater, music)
Action: Explore programmatic and instructional language used, and develop commonality between all disciplines starting with common terminology utilized within a given discipline’s Advanced Placement (AP) course, if available. Status: Music-achieved, Theater- achieved, Visual Art- achieved ; COMPLETED Spring 2023
Action: Collaborate and compile a grade-level appropriate VPA lexicon, developed from nationally recognized terminology. Status: Music-in progress, Theater- achieved, Visual Art- in progress

Objective A-2: Increase horizontal and vertical communication within each arts discipline.
Action: Design communication protocol to inform “receiving” or “successive” teachers of students’ achievements and interests, in an effort to inform appropriate courses of study and co-curricular activities. Status: Music-on hold, Theater- on hold, Visual Art- K-5 accomplished, 5-12 behind schedule due to COVID
To do: Music K-12, Theater 6-12, Visual Art 6-12 will develop a communication protocol in place for SY 2024-2025
Action: Implement consistent communication protocol to inform “receiving” or “successive” teachers of students’ achievement and interests to inform appropriate courses of study and co- curricular activities. To do: Explore at least one shared MS/HS faculty meeting/department meeting, in addition to the K-12 meeting, each year.

Objective A-3: Explore opportunities to maximize schedule efficiency and efficacy across the district.
Action: Gather data regarding allocation and implementation of current VPA staffing and schedules. K-12 on hold
To do: Administrators are tasked with completing this data collection and analysis. Staff will ensure a data update is provided at least annually.
Action: Explore and share options for optimal scheduling and staffing allocation for individual schools and across the district. K-12 in progress
