Course Description: This course involves examining and understanding the way people do things around the world. You will experience new cultures through story, video, cooking, and more. We also focus on geography and the effect this has on a country's culture.

Course Goals:

• Identify and locate major landforms, bodies of water, countries, and population centers
• Understand simple phrases in multiple languages
• Identify what foods, beliefs, and customs are important to different cultures

Student Expectations:

• Be on time, be prepared, be ready
• Complete all tasks to the best of your ability
• Ask questions!

Course Requirements:

Homework: Homework is expected to be on time. You have the opportunity to earn 50% if the work is turned in the next day. If you were absent, it is your responsibility to ask what you missed and need to make up.

Projects: Students will have at least two in class projects that will be graded based on a given rubric. One will be research based while the other will be performance (cooking) based.

Grades: Grades will be put into powerschool as they are given. Grading system is as follows:

• 0 = 90+
• P = 80-89
• S = 75-79
• N = 70-74
• U = 65-69
• I = <65

Grade Make Up:

• Homework/classwork 10%
• Quizzes 30%
• Tests/projects 60%
