Dear Parents,
We are happy to welcome your child to Introduction to Computer Science class for the 2023-2024 school year at Burlington Township High School! It’s our goal to improve your child’s technological literacy, and develop real world skills in the field of computer science, computer programming, electronics, and more! We aim to explore a variety of programs and concepts:
Unit 1: Introduction to Computers
Unit 2: Introduction to Logic & Programming
Unit 3: Advanced Logic
Unit 4: Automation With Sensors & Input // Final Project
Core Skills Covered:
Binary and Decimal / C++ Programming / Algorithms / Debugging / Soldering / Analog I/O / Digital I/O / Cybersecurity / Data Collection / Automation / Circuit Design / Robotics / Prototyping
Late Work:
Accepted, but 10% is deducted for each day late. Students who are absent have 5 days to submit missing work or complete missing assessments for full credit. Grades will be entered as a zero until completed.
Grading:
Tests/Projects - 50%, Quizzes - 25%, Developmental Assessments - 20%, Homework/Do Nows 5%
Homework is graded at 100% for full effort, 50% for partial effort, or 0% for no completion.
While tests are given, projects make up a large portion of your child’s grade. Projects may be done in groups but individual grades are given for contributions to the final product.
