Membership Dues = $30.00 (one time fee)
Yearly Dues = $5.00
Mandatory Meeting Attendance (3 excused absences permitted per year)
Participation in Discovery Night OR CTE Week.
10 hours of documented CTE related community service per year.
Membership obligations are as follows:
Dues: There is a one-time $30 membership fee that must be paid on time in order for members to be inducted. Members are also asked to pay annual chapter dues of $5 per year, which are due on the same date. The authentic inability of a member or his/her family to pay such financial obligations will not be the reason for the disciplining or dismissal of any member.
All payments are made through MySchoolBucks.
Maintaining Standards: Once selected and inducted, all members are expected to maintain the standards by which they were selected. The implication here is that members are well informed about those standards, as published in the description of the local selection process. Please see 'Bylaws' section for details.
Meetings: Members are expected to attend meetings regularly during activity periods. Students who participate in multiple activities are expected to prioritize NTHS; a written excuse may be provided by another activity adviser in certain cases. Only three excused meeting absences per membership year are permitted.
Note: officers are NOT permitted to miss meetings unless absent from school.
Chapter Service Project: One or more service projects will be offered throughout the year; members must participate in a minimum of one. Members are also expected to participate in Discovery Night or Career and Technical Education week. Participation in one service project AND Discovery Night or CTE Week is mandatory.
Community Service & Volunteering: In addition to the chapter service project or events, members are to engage in additional service according to their interests and talent. A minimum of 10 hours of career related service per year is required for membership. Service must be first approved by the NTHS advisers, and written documentation must be provided by the individual in charge of the activity. Service hours accumulated for National Honor Society events will NOT be counted towards NTHS service. Participation in both societies requires SEPARATE service activities. Documentation log must be filled out, attached to written and signed verification, and turned in by June 1 of the membership year.

Dismissal:
There are three general areas considered when looking at the actions of chapter members:
1. Are they maintaining the standards by which they were selected?
2. Are they fulfilling the obligations of membership as delineated above and in the chapter guidelines?
3. Are they complying with school rules and the law?
4. Have students remained suspension free?
If the answer is "No" to any of these questions, then the Advisers and Committee members have the right to take action for dismissal for any member.
Note: members who resign or are dismissed are never again eligible for membership.
