Membership Dues = $30.00 (one-time fee, new members only)

Mandatory Meeting Attendance (3 excused absences permitted per year)
Mandatory Participation in Discovery Night or CTE Week.
10 hours of documented community service per year. Discovery Night does not count.
Membership obligations are as follows:
Dues: A one-time $30 membership fee and annual chapter dues of $5 are required. Members experiencing genuine financial hardship will not be penalized for an inability to pay. All payments are made through MySchoolBucks.
Meetings: Members are expected to attend all NTHS meetings. Students participating in multiple activities should prioritize NTHS. (NHS & NTHS meetings are staggered to allow attendance to both.) Up to three excused absences per membership year are permitted with appropriate documentation.
Officers: Officers may not miss meetings unless they are absent from school.
Chapter Service Requirements
Members must participate in at least one of the two annual Grooming for a Good Cause service projects or complete a service project on their own.
Participation as a reader in the Induction Ceremony may count as a chapter service project.
Members must also participate in either Discovery Night or Career and Technical Education (CTE) Week. Students choosing CTE Week must work with their CTE instructor to plan their participation. CTE Week is held each February.
Participation in one service project and Discovery Night or CTE Week is required for all members. These hours do not count towards the 10-hour community service requirements.
Community Service & Volunteering
In addition to chapter service projects, members must complete at least 10 hours of community service each membership year. Discovery Night does not count.
All service activities must be approved by an NTHS adviser before participation. Written verification from the activity supervisor is required for all service hours. Service completed for National Honor Society events may also count toward this requirement.
Members must submit a completed service log AND signed verification documentation by May 1st of the membership year.

Dismissal
Members are expected to:
Maintain the standards for which they were selected.
Fulfill all membership requirements outlined in these guidelines.
Follow school rules and obey all laws.
Remain free of suspensions.
Failure to meet any of these expectations may result in disciplinary action, including dismissal from NTHS, at the discretion of the advisers and selection committee.
Important: Students who resign from or are dismissed from NTHS are not eligible for future membership.
