Black Student Union (BSU) at BCIT , intends to educate, unite, and empower Black students by working towards dismantling systemic oppression through providing a safe space to form and cultivate a more culturally and politically aware school community. Our focus centers on encouraging all students to strive towards academic excellence while advocating for BIack enrichment and empowerment in and outside of the premises of BCIT.
Cultural Consciousness: We strive to educate and empower our members and the community through Africana awareness.
Unity: We strive to establish and maintain unity amongst the Burlington County Institute of Technology community.
Community Engagement: We strive to initiate, develop, and maintain community relationships.
Leadership: We strive to develop active leaders through professional development and community engagement.
Student Engagement: We strive to enhance student engagement through social and educational means.
Membership in BCIT BSU is open to any student at BCIT. Membership will not be based on discrimination based on race, handicap, age, gender, color, creed, religion, political persuasion, sexual orientation, or national origin.
Members representing BCIT BSU will conduct themselves with a high level of professionalism.
The logo was designed by our Advertisement Art and Design Class members. The distinct blue color symbolizes unity and peace. These are goals that BCIT BSU upholds within our organization and strive to maintain throughout the community.
