I am a graduate of Millersville University of Pennsylvania, where I earned a Bachelor’s of Science (BFA with teacher certification) with a concentration in Drawing. During my time at MU, I was able to study abroad in Pont-Aven, France- the location of an avant-garde art movement (I studied Art History in Paul Gauguin’s apartment!) through Rhode Island School of Design (RISD).
I earned National Board certification (an advanced teacher credential) in 2009 and renewed in 2019. At the fall NC Art Education Association Conference in 2021, I was appointed the Youth Art Month Chair for the state of North Carolina. I currently serve on the Rock School Arts Foundation Board.
Favorite media for personal artworks:
Watercolor/alcohol markers/ink, & clay
Hobbies & Interests:
By day, my passion is teaching and art, but by night, I can be found with a book in hand. I love Diet Coke, everything vintage, visiting art museums, musicals, and cats (but not Cats! The Musical)
What I love most about teaching art:
The curriculum is very open so the students can often guide the learning: "I saw a cool video about XYZ- can we do that?" YES! Let's make it happen!
Color: turquoise & black
