Myths:
I can’t play sports and be in band or chorus.
I can’t take music because I won’t be able to get all of my other courses in for graduation. ~ OR ~ I can’t take higher level courses and be in band or chorus.
Truths:
Students can participate in music classes and sports. Most music students participate in multiple sports throughout the school year. Most music students are also involved in several Clubs and Organizations.
Music students not only take higher level courses if they are trying to be competitive for colleges, but some of them are enrolled in classes at Western Piedmont Community College. They do this while still participating in music classes at DHS. DHS also offers Chamber Choir, which is an audition-based honors credit chorus.
