We will be using a variety of technology daily in our classroom. Each student will have access to an iPad to use for digital tasks. Also, our classroom is fortunate enough to have a smartboard that allows for interactive whole group lessons. In order to use technology in the classroom students will sign an agreed upon technology social contract. Teaching students to be digital citizens is critical in today's world. Technology has become an integral part of education, and students need to be aware of digital ethics. As students get older discussions should be had about online reputations. In 2nd grade we will focus on appropriate online behavior and connect it to how we interact with others in person. I have found sharing real life examples helps strengthen students understanding of digital ethics. There are so many benefits to using technology purposefully in the classroom, but students need to understand digital citizenship first.
