Welcome! I am Max Salazar, Assistant Band Director and Percussion Director of the Burkburnett Bands. I conduct the Concert Band class as well as lead the beginner trumpet and percussion classes, and assist the low brass classes here at Burkburnett Middle School. I also instruct the percussionists at the Burkburnett High School. I team teach with Mr. Brian Beeson, Mr. Adam Lewis, and Ms. Robin Weatherman for the Beginning Band classes. I also have the privilege of being the Fine Arts Department Head here at Burkburnett Middle School.
A bit about myself: I was born and raised in Wichita Falls, and I take a lot of pride in my community. I've gotten my hands in as many musical aspects as long as I can remember, including but not limited to: band, jazz band, percussion ensembles, choir, show choir, orchestra, musical theater and dance. I graduated from Midwestern State University with a Bachelor in Music in Instrumental Performance with Teachers' Certification in 2013. I have taught at Fowler Elementary, Wichita Falls High School, what was then Barwise Junior High School, and most recently Haynes Northwest Academy before coming to Burkburnett Middle School in 2015.
I am frequently a performer with the Wichita Falls Symphony Orchestra as a percussionist. In the past I have been involved with the Wichita Falls Youth Symphony Orchestra as the Percussion Coach. I also play percussion and piano for many private performances and church services.
