Dual Credit

BISD offers Dual Credit (courses that count for college credit & high school credit) through Vernon College and Midwestern State University (MSU). Students take courses online from the high school campus. 

Interested students should prepare by scoring "college ready" on the TSI test, SAT or ACT

Will my credits earned in high school transfer to the college I wish to enroll at after graduation?

1. In Texas, dual credit courses taken at a public high school are guaranteed to transfer to all Texas public colleges and universities under Texas Education Code, Section 130.008, and rules established by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB). These courses must align with the Texas Core Curriculum, making them equivalent to college-level general education requirements. 

2. Try Transferology - a FREE resource for students to see how their credits will transfer to participating schools.

3. Search Transfer Equivalency Guide on your prospective college/university's website. If they have a guide (not all schools do), you can see how your classes will transfer.

4. Contact the admissions office at your prospective college/university and have them evaluate your existing college transcript. They will usually only do this for you after you have applied and been accepted.
