What is the Credit Acceleration Program (CAP)?
The Credit Acceleration Program (CAP) is a computer-based education and credit restoration program that is designed to allow students at BHS the opportunity to work toward mastering grade level requirements at their own pace. It may also provide students who have been identified as at-risk with an opportunity to graduate with their peers and allow increased chances for success in their post-secondary endeavors.
CAP is centered around an individualized, flexible, self-paced program with admissions occurring throughout the academic year. This means a student may complete his or her required coursework for graduation at any time during the academic year.
Frequently Asked Questions about CAP:
Is CAP the same as virtual school or homeschool?
No; CAP is an alternative program setting within Burkburnett HS. Students enrolled in CAP are still required to attend school each day in person the same as any other BISD student.
Are students who attend CAP in trouble?
Absolutely not! Students who attend classes in CAP are not enrolled because of disciplinary reasons, and they are able to participate in all regular activities that take place at Burkburnett High School, such as UIL, prom, and graduation exercises.
How do I apply to take courses through CAP?
Students will need to visit with a counselor at Burkburnett High School where they can get an application. Completion of the application does not guarantee entrance into CAP.
