Prevention of Substance Use Disorders (panel session)

April 20 - 22, 2023

The 2023 BC Substance Use Conference will focus on the theme Challenge of Change and will be held in a hybrid format on April 20-22. Refer to the conference website here to register or see the full program.

The ABCs team will be part of panel session on the topic of: Prevention of Substance Use Disorders

Challenge: Due to the urgent nature of the toxic drug crisis, downstream interventions have been prioritized. However, prevention of substance use disorders (SUD) has the potential to reduce substance-related deaths and harms, improve quality of life, and reduce health system impacts.

Change: Incorporating evidence-informed prevention strategies, screening, and early intervention to reduce the prevalence of SUDs into the continuum of substance use care/services.
