ABOUT ME
Hello! My name is Marissa Martin. This is my 5th year teaching 2nd grade. I am a Bullitt County native and I'm thrilled to be teaching here. I have an older brother named Zach who is 5 years older than me. I have a new kitten of my own and his name is Siva. I just got married in June to my husband, Andrew. I love doing arts and crafts projects, and I am also very active in sports, too (but just for fun!). I played softball for 10 years growing up! I love going on beach vacations with my family. I'm so excited to be teaching your child this year!
Education
Being from Bullitt County, I went to elementary school at Old Mill, middle school at Mount Washington Middle, and graduated from Bullitt East in 2015. I then went to the University of Louisville (Go Cards!) to get my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a concentration in Early Childhood Education. For the first 2 and a half years of my college time, I worked night shift at UPS to help pay for school. After that, I worked at UofL's Early Learning Campus (daycare/preschool) until I started student teaching in 2019 at Overdale Elementary. I graduated from UofL in 2019. For the 2019-2020 school year, I was a sub in Bullitt County. I subbed at many schools, including PGE. I long-term subbed at Freedom Elementary for 3 months in a 5th grade classroom. One week after that ended, I had another long-term at Crossroads Elementary in a 5th grade classroom and started NTI with them. I ended the school year long-terming for a 1st grade teacher at Freedom all through the NTI days. For the 2020-2021 school year, I was a virtual 2nd grade teacher in Oldham County. This will be my 4th year at PGE. I just recently started an online program to further my education and earn a rank change!
