Change in Transportation
We are changing our process for change in afternoon transportation. We ask that you complete a form for this change. The form automatically goes to our front office staff and teachers will be provided with a printed copy.
Please fill out the following form to change your child's transportation. The form opens at 5am and closes at 3pm daily. CLICK HERE.
This will ensure that the staff working in the front office receives this information regardless of a teacher or specific front office staff member being absent.
As we get used to this process, Ms. Katie Ashbaugh and your child's teacher, may send a gentle reminder to fill out the form if you send a note or an email.
The form automatically collects your email address when you complete it. The email address collected must be the parent or guardian's email address that you provided the school via online registration.
If you need to update your email, stop by the school and talk to Katie Ashbaugh.
This form is available on our website and is a button at the top of the newsletter!
Reminder: ALL parents/guardians MUST have a car rider tag in the event a bus is canceled. When a bus is canceled, students on that bus are automatically car riders. Parents are not permitted to enter the building during afternoon dismissal. If you do not have a car rider tag and you come to pick up your child, please wait in your car until 4pm when we finish dismissal to enter the school.
Absences
Are you tired of the front office/teacher reaching out when your child is absent to ask why they are not here?
Would you like to save time for our Caregivers?
Does your child forget to turn in absence notes?
Fill out the following form when your student is absent and the information will be automatically sent to our front office staff and their teacher (unless you request otherwise in your comments). CLICK HERE
The form allows you to upload doctor notes and EHO request if desired! You may also continue to send these in if uploading is difficult for you!
This form is available on our website and is a button at the top of the newsletter!
Unfortunately you will still get the automated call but you will NOT get an additional call from the office or teacher.
High Attendance Day
September 13th
Students here on time and all day may wear their PJs!
Students present will be entered to win a prize in a drawing!
Classes with 100% present on 9/13 will have a choice of popsicle or popcorn party or extra wellness time.
1st Day of School Paperwork
The papers that went home on the first day of school or open house are very important and we need them ASAP!
Many people skip filling out the HIF (Household Information/Income Form) because they don't think they "qualify". We must have 100% of these HIF forms submitted. The information is kept confidential. This information affects the amount of title 1 and FRC funding the school receives. ALL students benefit from this funding. It also affects our status as a CEP school (free breakfast/lunch).
Students cannot use their chromebooks until the $35 fee is paid. This is not a fee for "taking their chromebook home" but is an annual fee to use the chromebook at school yearly.
Fee waiver forms are available via request from your child's teacher or Mekayla Belcher (our FRC). To check the status of your fee waiver application, reach out to Mekayla Belcher.
Mental health consent form is needed for all students. Read the form carefully! Reach out to Kelley Moore if you have any questions.
YMCA Basketball
Registration through the YMCA is opening soon! We will share the registration site after it opens!
The YMCA is giving 20 Roby students on a Roby team (5-6 and 7-8 year olds) an excellent discount as a thank you for using our facilities. To access the Roby discount code, fill out the following form! CLICK HERE **Please note this is NOT the registration. Mr. Klaassen from the YMCA, will reach out to you if your 5-8 year old child was the first 20 signed up or if they are on the waitlist.
Parents interested in being a court monitor for practices themselves or for their 14 year old child and up, sign up on the following form! CLICK HERE *Pay is approximately $10 per hour and requires a background check through the YMCA and a W-9 form.
Parents interested in volunteering as a coach, sign up on the following form! CLICK HERE * requires a background check through the YMCA
Parent Needs & Concerns
If you have a need or a concern that requires attention, you have multiple methods to gain the support that you or your child needs.
Step 1: Always reach out to your child's teacher first (if it is reference to something that happened in class or in reference to the teacher). We will politely redirect you to the teacher if this is something that has not been done. If needed, schedule a meeting with the teacher.
Step 2: If you are not satisfied with their response or if it is regarding something unrelated to the teacher (i.e. need assistance with food/clothing, access to school based counseling, chromebook repair fee, etc.), fill out the form at the top of the newsletter and on the website titled Contact Roby Leadership. Your response will be automatically directed to the appropriate person who will respond in 1 business day.
Step 3: If the need is more pressing than 1 business day, call the office and relay this information to Dr. Scott's secretary Ms. Meagan Pack. She will pass the information on to the correct person who will contact you as soon as possible and within 1 business day. Rest assured that we will respond as soon as possible and based on the level of need/priority your concern is compared to the other items we are working on. We value you and your child and want to give the same thought, time and attention to your concern that we may be currently spending with another student/parent.
Step 4: If you need a meeting with an administrator, please call the school and ask for Ms. Meagan Pack. She will schedule an appointment for you. Please give a brief explanation of the purpose of the meeting. This can typically be accomplished in 1-2 business days. We will value the time that you scheduled to discuss your concern. If your concern involves your child's behavior or succes on the bus or in class, the bus driver or a staff member will be included in the meeting. The meeting will need to be scheduled during that staff member's planning or at our next available appointment before/after school.
Step 5: If you are not satisfied with the outcome of a situation/concern after talking with the teacher and an administrator through the process above, ask the administrator what your next steps might be (these depend on the situation).
NOTE: BCPS has a civility policy that must be followed for parents/guardians to continue to have access to the building and to talk with staff. Go to the KSBA online manual (HERE) to read this policy. We ask that you follow this policy and refrain from causing a disruption, raising your voice, and using profanity while on our campus or at a school sponsored event.
CARE is important to our school community. We ask that you give our teachers and administrators time, through the process above, to resolve any needs or concerns that arise.
HOW TO...
COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR CHILD'S TEACHER!
We need all parents to download this app for easy communication with your child's teacher! If you need help downloading or using the app, stop by our front office!
Directions on how to add the BCPS app and use the app are LINKED HERE.
Reach out to your child's teacher via email if you need your child(ren)'s "magic code" for adding your child. Parents who remain in the district will be members during your child's entire BCPS career. These codes are CASE sensitive!
Administration will reach out to the parents/guardians of students who have not responded to ANY teacher communication (voicemails, emails, messages) as this is a concern. In order to provide CARE for your child, we must be able to communicate with you!
