Broadcasting has been a vital part of Bullitt East High School for 24 years, starting with Mr. Maurice Dean Jasper in 1994 in the form of East Side Story, to ending in 2019 in the form of BECN. The broadcasting program thrived for decades with having the luxury of Block Scheduling and 90 minute class periods. In the 2013/2014 school year, however, Bullitt East moved to a 7-period day with 50 minute class periods. Asking teachers to give up 10 minutes of a 90 minute class period was acceptable, but giving up 10 minutes of a 50 minute class period resulted in a ratings decline that has now saw the class fade out of the school spotlight. The 2018/2019 school year will be the last year that Bullitt East will have an actual student produced video news broadcast. If history has taught anything, its to "Never say never", so hopefully this will be more of a "Until next time" than a "Goodbye forever".
Clicking one of the pictures below will take you to a "Vault" page where you can watch many, if not all, episodes that aired during the 12 season span of BECN. You will also be able to go even further back and check out episodes from the East Side Story era that are currently being converted from VHS to an online, digital format.
