What is the Bullis Charter School Maker Faire?
A School Maker Faire provides an opportunity for students to showcase their creative expression and interests. Students are exhibiting projects, processes, and idea and they showcasing, presenting, and teaching. There are two sets of exhibits—one set from 10:30-11:30 & 11:45-12:45.
Like all BCS events, students (and adults) are expected to follow the character pillars of respect, caring, responsibility, trustworthiness, fairness, and citizenship. In addition, many students are taking a risk in participating and so there should be an acknowledgement that not every presentation or exhibit will be (or is expected to be) perfect. A maker faire is not about shiny, finished products but about sharing your excitement with others. Unfinished products are just as welcomed as finished exhibits.
While there will be other making events happening at our School Maker Faire, we're hoping that the activities will be student-driven. Please encourage your child to teach others!
Students are welcome to present and showcase their making with friends or individually. If presenting or exhibiting as a group, each child needs to submit their proposal. The focus of the school maker faire is on sharing and showcasing, not on selling items. Please have your child keep this in mind as they design their project.
