In 1939, Christopher Ishwerwood published Goodbye to Berlin, a story of his experiences and observations in Berlin before Hitler's rise to power. In 1951, John Van Druten adapted this story into a play that he called I Am A Camera, and in 1966 the musical Cabaret was born. This website, created by the dramaturgs of THEA 265: Introduction to Dramaturgy, explores everything there is to know about Cabaret from its conception to now. Please continue to explore to find out more about author and production history, social and historical context, and more!
