No matter where we are learning, at home or in the classroom, the expectations are the same.
Classroom expectations follow our P.A.W.S. acronym. The image above shows the how P.A.W.S. connects to expectations for 4th graders in room 18. School-wide Buckeye implements the P.B.I.S. model (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports). It is a way to support everyone to create a school where all students are successful.
Instead of punishing students for misbehaving, my goal is to help students learn, practice and grow their problem solving skills. If a student is having a hard time I will keep them in for a 5-minute meeting at recess (or other convenient time). We will talk about what's going on and, together, make a plan to improve in the area of concern. If improvement isn't happening we will alter the plan.

In Room 18 my goal is to support each student in increasing their empathy towards others and grow their positive mindset. The focus is on:
Manners
Kindness
Leadership
Courage
Grit
Creativity
We've got grit. We won't quit.
