Boston University, like many other colleges and universities, has taken steps to slow COVID 19. We at BU Wheelock have been asked to bring our courses into the online environment. Please rest assured remote teaching - both asynchronous and synchronous - is a known field of study and practice.
This website is being designed in real time as things develop. Feel free to share with other colleagues within and outside of BU.
Remember principles of Universal Design when thinking about an on-line format.
If you are assigning people to a breakout group in Zoom, make sure the people in the room can communicate with one another. If you have multiple students who's primary language is not english, and it shared, think about putting them together. If there are interpreters make sure they are in the right room (i..e, don't randomly assign breakout groups).
Use the "raising hands" function of Zoom (Link to Zoom support) so only one person talks at a time. Make sure interpreters are large enough on screen, and that their volume is on as needed.

Work with DAS to make sure asynchronously posted videos (including those posted by other students) are accessible (e.g., captioned, transcribed, and/or interpreted). This is important for a variety of learners!
