Given the current interest and research focused on self-driving vehicles, the project will focus on one of the important aspects necessary for a self-driving car, responding to a red or green light at a traffic intersection. The project will involve two main circuits to drive and control the motion of the car. The Arduino and battery will power the motors attached to the wheels to have the car continuously drive forward The wheel rotation speed will be hooked up to three IR sensors to have the car follow the line and slow one of the wheels to turn and keep the car center on the line. The second circuit will be a color sensor placed at the front of the car which is used to determine the cars action when it reaches a "traffic intersection".
Once it reaches the intersection it must respond according to the color of the traffic light:
If it is green, it must continue through the intersection without stopping and going in the direction it was told to.
If it is red, it must stop at the intersection and wait until the light turns green at which point it will go in the direction it was told to.
