Importing Grades

Schoology and SchoolTool

It is possible to import grades into SchoolTool from Schoology. A few steps must be taken before hand, and the videos below outline that process.

In order for a grade to be imported to SchoolTool it must:

Have an assigned category in Schoology
Have a due date in Schoology that matches the appropriate marking period
Have a title in Schoology that is 50 total characters or less, and contains no special characters
- It may be best to use ONLY letters and numbers in the name

Please note: The system supports 1 import per assignment, per class, per day. This means you can pull multiple assignments within a single day, but if you try to import that same assignment for that same class again that day, you may receive an error message.

An introduction/overview to the grade import process between Schoology and SchoolTool

Step 1: Mirror Schoology and SchoolTool environments

It is first necessary to have your Schoology grade set up mirror your SchoolTool grade set up in terms of percent vs total points, and categories. It may be necessary to redefine pre-existing categories in Schoology via Bulk Editing

Step 2: Import Grades into SchoolTool

The final step is to import the grades via SCHOOLTOOL. Remember to select the "Overwrite" option or you will get duplicates of the material in your SchoolTool grade book.

Please note: Be sure to check the box for "Assignment" under the Parent Access column (shown starting at 1:26 in the video) to insure that parents are able to see the grade using the home access feature of SchoolTool.

If you get an error, make sure the 3 conditions listed above are met.
