Homework Information

Students will write daily assignments in their planner. Assignments will also be listed here.

Each week the following homework becomes routine:

Reading

On Monday students are given the selection vocabulary. They are to write definitions for the selected vocabulary in their reading notebook in cursive. Then they are to use the vocabulary word in a sentence and write the sentence.

Leveled readers are given to read independently and to answer comprehension questions located in the back of the booklet. Students will write the answers in their Reading notebook. Leveled reader work is due by Friday.

On Wednesday "Think Critically" questions at the end of the story in the Pearson Reader are given to help study for the review on Thursday.

Students are expected to also read the story of the week at home before the test on Friday.

The reading test is given on Fridays. Students are given the writing prompt on Thursday to prepare for the written portion of the reading test.

(Sometimes the reading story is stretched out for two weeks due to holidays, standardized testing, or delays that shorten the school week. Notice will be given when this happens.)
