For the 2021-22 school year, Bellbrook High School began the implementation of a new program called Supportive Peers!
The program is geared toward promoting authentic relationships and inclusivity between BHS students (Lead Peers) and students within the district who need something special...these could be students with special needs or students who are going through a rough patch.
Lead Peers are paired with another student in the district (junior Peer). The Lead Peers travel to their respective buildings 4-5 days per week to be with their junior peer during the school day. The pairs work together in the general education classroom, during specials, and at lunch and/or recess, depending on the schedule. Additionally, there are Lead Peers who work at the preschool and in the high school resource room.
Outside of school, we have had many get-togethers--training in May, back-to-school night in August, a football game in September, a fall outing in October, and Christmas with Santa! Click here for our calendar of events for 25-26.

Detailed description of where your money goes:
Each student involved in the program gets a Supportive Peers t-shirt. We have approximately eight events throughout the year where the kids enjoy crafts, bouncy house, face painting, and all sorts of fun activities. We meet at Lucas Brothers Farms in October for our fall event, and in January we go to SkyZone! Kings Island donates the stuffed animals for our Christmas event every year! We host a “Little Sweetheart” dance in February which is open to the community. In the spring, the Lead Peers are treated to a day off of school to reward them for their hours and hours (~200 or more) of dedication to the program. In the past, the reward day was a day at Great Wolf Lodge or a combination of a breakout room and bowling. At the end of the year, the Lead Peers are given a small plaque to commemorate their service, and graduating seniors are given a cord to wear at graduation. There are three days of training at the end of the school year as well.
