BTC Preschool - Philosophy

BTC Preschool believes children develop through five main areas of growth:

physical, social, emotional, cognitive and creative.

Through participation in a variety of activities, children are given opportunities to:

Develop positive self-concepts in an atmosphere geared to successful experiences
Be respected as unique and special individuals
Develop strong and positive relationships with other children and adults
Strengthen large and small muscles
Think, reason, question and experiment
Learn through play

The curriculum at BTC Preschool is a blend of teacher-directed and individual learning experiences planned within units of study such as self, families, math, science, and literature. Children learn how to both work independently and how to work as part of small and large groups, skills necessary to successfully enter kindergarten.

Activities are geared towards a process oriented philosophy. We believe children learn best by doing. Children are given opportunities to strengthen a skill or learn a new concept, all at their own rate and style of learning. We believe in creating success cycles for children.

BTC Preschool is fully equipped with a variety of activity centers: art, blocks, science/math, dramatic play, books, writing, manipulative, food preparation, computer, woodworking, water and sand tables. Additionally, there are daily experiences with music, language arts, and outdoor play in our fenced playground, as well as field trips inside the technical center and out in the community.
