My name is Lesly Alcantar, throughout my last 2 years here at Southridge High School I have participated in the Sports Medicine program. I ended up In this program due to my love for Soccer which has been apart of my life for over 9 years. I am also the Founder and President for a Latina Excellence Club - Monarcas at Southridge. I created this club to lead and create a safe environment for Latinas like myself to grow socially as well as academically and have awareness of their culture. Another thing I have done at my time here has been creating many friendships. I've also taken many College level courses my Junior and Senior year.
My Journey with soccer has included highs, lows and injuries but overall it has been a growth mechanism through my whole life. Many times when I was mentally and physically drained, soccer kept on proving why I had played the sport for club an then later on In highschool.
The MONARCAS club has been an amazing part of my High School career. From being a role model to a younger group of girls to admiring all that our mentors do for our club. This has all shaped me to be the person I am today I have learned that I can be a team player aswell as a leader that does speeches and leads a whole group through culture conversations
My Future
I plan to attend PCC to get my Associates degree in nursing and then transfer to University of Portland to complete my bachelors of Science in Nursing. I will be graduating with the class of 26' at Southridge High School. In the future I will hopefully be working at a hospital or clinic helping patients.
As for family life when I have succeeded career wise I'm planning on being married with 3 or 4 kids. I am very family oriented, I am obsessed with my family and me having a big family of my own will make me feel accomplished with everything I have ever wanted. At this time I will hope to have purchased my house to raise my kids.
