Hear Me Out went to the local Farmer's Market and set up a station at which community members could leave messages to those around us who may be struggling with their mental health. These messages were then shared online for our audience.
We visited health classrooms around our high school to talk to fellow students about how to protect our mental health by being safe media consumers. Over 60 students were reached in our first two weeks alone!
Teachers are a fundamental part of strong support systems for youth, yet so often underappreciated and overworked. We wanted to show our appreciation for what they've done for us, and put their mental health first by offering self care kits.
We invited students from our school to write letters and cards showing support for Doernbecher Children's Hospital patients in honor of mental health awareness week. Students not only got to connect with these patients, but also with each other about mental health topics.
Hear Me Out hosted a series of virtual study group sessions where students from around our school and district could ask each other for help with academics, and have a safe space to share about stressors from our school lives.
