Based in Beaverton, Oregon, Bluegills is a youth-run creative initiative aimed at developing a space for writers, poets and artists to share ideas and broaden their horizons.

The first issue of Bluegills is currently accepting submissions. The first issue is completely non-themed. We encourage anyone and everyone to submit their creative works. We are currently accepting poems, creative non-fiction, essays and short stories. The deadline for all submissions is 4/1/25. For more information, view our submissions page.

Our Mission

We welcome all creatives, young, old, novice and experienced, to join our artistic collective. We welcome poetry, essays and short creative fiction. At Bluegills, we strive to create an inclusive and encouraging community. We stand with our immigrant community, our LGBTQ+ community, our disabled community and our BIPOC community. Let me be very clear: Bluegills is a space for everyone.
