Class Highlight: ACP Chemistry

Written by: Josie Astafan

Down in room A225, you can find ACP Chemistry being held during certain periods during the day. Taught by Ms. Bohnert, the class aims to arm its students with the essential principles of chemistry. Overall, it seeks to help students correctly apply their knowledge of chemistry and recognize chemistry concept (such as molecular structures, properties, elements, chemical reactions, etc) It is a 5-credit class that helps students earn their associates degree and an easy way to gain cheap IU credits - credits that Ms. Bohnert highly recommends because they are a significant advantage later in life. A majority of the class is split between quizzes, exams, homework, notes, lectures, prelabs, and labs. However, a majority of the class grade comes from the labs and lectures. Final exams are particularly brutal since they cover chemistry chapters 5 through 16. ACP chemistry is open to second-year chemistry students (typically juniors) and above.

Community Highlight

Written by: Maddie Quillen

In this small town in Indiana, we rely on small businesses, events, and landmarks to keep people in our town. Small towns are a beautiful thing, but they can get boring pretty easily if you don’t have anything to do. If there isn't a community, there really isn’t a town.

Recent news this month is: Taekwondo, at YER Material Arts, is now enrolling students ages five and above. Mill Street Pizza is offering a sample box starting Friday, and their dining room opens next week! This Halloween, Bloomfield trick or treat hours are Saturday from six to nine pm. The costume parade starts at two pm. The costume contest will be held in the high school cafeteria at two-thirty!

Teacher Highlight: Mrs. Dunkerly

Written by: Lydia Wade

This week’s teacher highlight is Mrs. Dunkerly. Mrs. Dunkerly’s favorite food is tacos, and her favorite drink is Lemon Propel. Mrs. Dunkerly also likes coffee, and her favorite coffee is white chocolate mocha.

Mrs. Dunkerly teaches 3 classes. She teaches seventh grade honors English, eighth grade English, and eighth grade Reading and Literature. Mrs. Dunkerly loves reading new books; therefore Reading and Literature is her favorite class to teach. Mrs. Dunkerly’s favorite part about teaching is seeing her students grow. She enjoys watching them transition from shy seventh graders to confident eighth graders.

When Mrs. Dunkerly is not teaching, you may find her listening to True Crime Podcasts. Spending time with her family is something Mrs. Dunkerly also enjoys in her free time. Mrs. Dunkerly has a son Blake, and a daughter Brynlea.

I asked Mrs. Dunkerly what she loved most about Bloomfield School. She said, “I love the family aspect within Bloomfield School.” Unlike bigger schools, Bloomfield is a community.
