On Saturday September 14th, 2024 the Bryan Girls and Boys High School Soccer teams dedicated their games to raising awareness of cancer, and raising funding to support Cancer Assistance of Williams County by hosting back to back Kick for a Cure soccer games. The teams raised $1,087. Since our last update, the postseason for many sports is underway or even concluded. Below is an update on those performances and upcoming tournament schedules.
The girls golf team capped off their season playing at Auglaize Golf Club for the NWOAL Championships. The team finished 3rd.
At Sectionals, the girls finished in 11th place at the D1 Sectional Tournament held at Eagles Landing in Oregon, Ohio. Individual results were:
Josey Arnold 97 – 24th place
Kenzie Blevins 98 – 27th place
Ana Mccoy 112 – 51st place
Claire Struble 119 – 60th place

Kai Dauber of Bryan shot a 79 and advanced on to the Division II District boys golf tournament at Maumee Bay Golf Club. The boys team finished 8th out of 12 teams at Eagle’s Landing. Scores for Bryan were Dauber 79, Jaydan Deel 90, Drew Engstrom 93, Landon Bassett 96, and Braydne Hall 99.
At Districts, Kai Dauber shot 90 and finished 31st at the Division 2 district tournament at Maumee Bay. Great season, Kai!
The Girls Tennis team competed in the sectional tournament last week. On Thursday, all seven players advanced to matches that would determine district qualifiers. The Lady Bears advanced four players past this round, as singles players Caitlyn DeWitt and Myleigh Andrews, and the doubles team of Ava Lambert/Lucy Vashaw won their respective matches and will compete in the district tournament. Courtney Kendrick and the doubles team of Emma Elkins/Lilly Cox both fought hard, but eventually fell to their opponents to end their season. On Saturday, the team competed to determine their seeds for districts. Caitlyn Dewitt and the doubles team of Ava Lambert/Lucy Vashaw each earned 3 seeds, while Myleigh Andrews came away with the 4 seed.
At Districts, Caitlyn DeWitt clinched a spot in the State Tournament by defeating both her opponents in Port Clinton on Thursday morning. In her first match, DeWitt defeated Jocelyn Rollheiser (Oak Harbor) by a score of 6-0, 6-2. She then punched her ticket to State with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Uloedo Ezike (Lexington). Caitlyn is the first Girls State Qualifier in singles since 2008. She also increased her career win total 90, which makes her the all-time career wins leader for the girls program. She will compete in the District Semi-Finals on Saturday morning to determine her seed for the State Tournament next week at The College of Wooster.
In other action, Myleigh Andrews found herself in a hard fought match against Ana Osborn from Norwalk. After a two hour battle, she was defeated by Osborn by a score of 3-6, 3-6. The doubles team of Ava Lambert and Lucy Vashaw matched up against Malaina Wolfe and Lily Thomas from Lexington. They played several great points but eventually lost by a score of 0-6, 1-6.

Girls soccer will host Kenton at Golden Bear Stadium on Wednesday, October 16 at 6pm.
Boys soccer will host Ottawa-Glandorf at Golden Bear Stadium on Thursday, October 17 at 7pm.
Volleyball will travel to Lake High School on Thursday, October 17 at 6pm.
The mandatory OHSAA winter athletic parent night will be Tuesday, October 29 at 6:30pm in the Bryan MS/HS Gymnasium.
6:30pm - Parkview Sports Med will have a presentation on the mental side of sports along with food and nutirition in season and in the off-season.
7:00pm - Athletic department expectations for coaches, athletes, and parents.
7:10pm - Disburse into individual sports.
