Methods Behind Marketing

My name is Zoe Maier and I am a senior at Goochland High School. I am a part of Blue Ridge Virginia Governor's school along with Advance College Academy. I enjoy participating in theatre after school, and recently stage managed for the fall musical. I am also a member of clubs such as Mu Alpha Theta, National Honor Society, Student Ambassadors, and the International Thespian Society. Outside of school I work at Hollister as a brand representative.

I have always been fascinated with psychology and human behavior, and one of the most overlooked yet prominent examples of psychology being used in the world is marketing. For my capstone project I have decided to research how marketers use psychology to their advantage. I want to learn about all of the small tricks marketers use such as certain colors' effects on consumers, or a type of music that can make an advertisement more appealing.

For my project I have collaborated with Maria Peterson, and I am interning at The Idea Center, a marketing firm in Richmond, VA. For my community service I am working with the Richmond SPCA to help them plan their annual Dog Jog and Block Party fundraiser that will take place on Saturday, March 23.
